Bright lights and colder nights

I'm going to be a guest on ITV's This Morning! Yes, Ample Bosom will get national exposure, as the PR machine rumbles on...

I'm going to be making my way down to the bright lights of our capital city very soon to sit on the famous This Morning sofa for a chat with Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield. I'll keep you fully updated as to when this will be - you'll get to hear me talk about our great underwear ranges and also about my journey as an entreprenuer. )I'll be having my hair and nails done for the occasion so should look my polished best) ... so watch this space.

In the meantime I've taken the plunge quite literally and bought a season ticket for my local swimming pool in Thirsk. And you will be pleased to hear that my dedication in getting up earlier and going swimming before work EVERY DAY has paid off - I've lost 3 pounds as a result! At last I am on the road to being fit as a flea for the bike ride at Harewood House in October and for my big charity bike ride in India in 2008 in aid of Women for Women.

Colder nights call for cosy nightwear

My goodness it feels as though summer has offically left us (not that it ever actally began) and been chased off by the first signs of autumn. Everyone's getting back to cosying up indoors to fend off the Yorkshire chills. (My father, bless him, is very sweet and said we were in for a cooler night and would need an extra blanket on the bed. I said nothing as I prefer to cuddle a bit closer to John, my husband, to get extra warmth.)

Anyway this colder weather is a disaster for my fitness regime - with only three short weeks to go until my sponsored bike ride for Cancer Research (in preparation for the even longer ride in India) I have managed to put on one and a half pounds in just one week. Why, I hear you cry! Well my excuse is that my sons have been at home on holiday from work, helping my husband John with sowing the winter corn on the farm. I have consequently been feeding them up and we've all been enjoying some hearty family meals. This, paired with the cold spell, means my bike hasn't been out as much as I should. But onwards and upwards, as if I'm not fit in time I will suffer come the bike ride ...

As the cooler nights are coming, we have a brand new addition to our Ample Bosom nightwear range - Pasturenette has some super nightwear which is incredibly comfortable and expertly made to boot. Taking the plunge

I had my five minutes of fame last week!

I was featured in The Sun newspaper (here's the article itself). They covered a rumour that has been around for some time, that a film is to be made about me, Ample Bosom and the company’s growth from humble farm roots to the success it is today. I still await superstardom however, as there is no such film in the pipeline (though if you know anyone who is in the market for a film I am open to offers!).

On a serious note, I am still very much in touch with the farming community, and am sad to hear that foot and mouth is back in the news. Just when farmers thought it had gone and they were starting to pick themselves up again, it just doesn't seem fair.

Anyway, speaking of picking yourself up, my fitness regime continues in earnest. As you know, I am soon to be taking the plunge and going on a sponsored bike ride in India next year. Preparations are in full swing at the moment and I had a pleasant eight-mile bike ride last Thursday with my friend, Sheila, who’s also going to be tackling the sponsored bike ride in India in aid of Women for Women. Well, I survived the eight miles and now it’s all systems go for another bike ride in October in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research at Harewood House. That’s 47 miles of cycling (phew!), which should really test my fitness level.

Mind you, after last week’s setback (I still blame the pastry) I have had a good week with my slimming. To keep on track I might try some swimming, which I hear is great for all-round fitness but more importantly, it gives me the perfect excuse to buy a new swimming costume …

Which brings me on to Ample Bosom's latest range of swimwear. My 'currant' fitness regime

First let’s get the bad news out of the way. You may remember that I am currently trying to hone my body to perfection (well get to an adequate fitness level anyway) in preparation for my bike ride in 2008 which will raise money for the charity Women for Women. Well unfortunately I have somehow managed to put on 4 lbs in only one week...

This really is not good enough. It could, I might add, be because, boy have I enjoyed eating some delicious things last weekend, including a homemade fly pie (think shortcrust pastry top and bottom with a rich mix of currants, butter and sugar in the middle, much like a huge eccles cake!). Completely rich and luscious. I like to think baking helps me to relax so hope that this benefit outweighs the drawbacks!

On a more serious note I am due to take part in a 50-mile bike ride at Harewood House on 14th October as practise for my India trip – I really do need to be prepared better so will be following a far more strict fitness plan in the coming weeks.

Another incentive to keep in trim is that I have a speaking engagement the week after that and, like any woman, will need a new outfit for it. So if I train hard and drop a dress size by then I will be happy.
